Welcome J.Q. Rose

Thank you so much for being here, J Q Rose. 1: What genre do you write? My book, Sunshine Boulevard, is a mystery/ horror with humor. I enjoy reading mysteries and trying to figure out the who-dun-it before the end of the book. Sometimes I do, but I love the stories with a great
surprise at the end. I hope my readers don’t see the end coming in my story. 2: How long have you been writing? Actually professionally writing, that is where I earn some cash from writing, I began freelance writing in 1995. But I have been writing stories and poems since I was in second grade.
3: What do you like the most and least about writing? I like writing when the ideas and words just flow off the keyboard and actually make sense…I dislike composing query letters and submitting to publishers only to receive rejections of my writing. I know by revising the letters or story, I improve it before sending it out again. So in some ways, a rejection can help, but the sting is still there when I first receive the note or, worse than that, a form letter…. 4: What do you do for fun and relaxation when not writing? I am almost addicted to Facebook. I hate to admit that, but it is fun connecting with family and friends. I also enjoy photography and of course, reading. I may be one of the few who actually admit I relax watching American Idol and Biggest Loser. I am on Facebook at J Q Rose. 5: Which authors do you like to read? Currently I am reading fiction writers Julie Hyzy, Janet Evanovich, Susan Wittig Albert, and Jan Karon. 6: What’s the one thing you’d most like people to know about you? I am a wife, mother, and grandmother, so the one thing I want people to know about me is that I have the best kids and the smartest and cutest grandkids ever!! Yes, really!! LOL… 7: Tell me about your current novel, where I can find it? Sunshine Boulevard is a mystery/light horror novella from Muse It Up Publishing. The story takes place in a Florida retirement community, Citrus Ridge Senior Golf and Resort Community. Some one or some thing is killing the senior residents on Sunshine Boulevard. Jim Hart, co-captain of the community’s volunteer first responders, is drawn into the investigation of the mysterious deaths. His friends are keeping shocking secrets which are revealed as a result of one of these inexplicable deaths. The story is a fun, quick, entertaining read. You can find the e-book at Muse It Up Publishing Bookstore http:/ tinyurl.com/2c53noz / amazon.com and bn.com and major e-book stores online. 8: Do you have any tips for aspiring authors? Probably what they have heard a million times…Don’t give up. Keep writing. The more you write the better you get. 9: Do you base your characters on real-life people? Indeed! We have traveled throughout Florida for many winters and have met some real characters. I usually take a trait of one person and mix it up with other personalities to come out with a very interesting character for my stories. 10: How did you come up with the idea for this book? The idea came from our experiences living in Florida retirement communities like Citrus Ridge and living the boomer lifestyle. 11: What are you currently working on? I am writing another mystery, but a romantic element in this one. I have a non-fiction book for middle grade girls completed, but no publisher yet, and an idea for a non-fiction story for girls. I also present a workshop on writing life stories and am always researching to find more information for the participants. 12. Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you? My husband gardens twelve months out of the year, so we have fresh vegetables in the kitchen every day. I love experimenting with recipes for garden veggies. I blog about vegetable gardening at The Garden for Eatin’ http://www.thegardenforeatin.blogspot.com Thank you for hosting me, Roseanne. I appreciate the opportunity to share my story with you and your readers. 13. Where can we find you? Website? Blog? Nice interview Roseanne and J.Q. Although I might have to argue on the best kids and grandkids thing. (tee-hee)
Congratulations on Sunshine Boulevard. Those pink flamingos on the cover remind me of my aunt who lived in Florida - she had those things all over her yard. LOL That's how we found which house was hers.
Hugs, Kay Dee

Cute cover. I love it when an author interjects humor in a book, even when it's about a serious subject. We can always use a laugh now and then.

Great interview J.Q. & Roseanne! Really reflects your warm nature and the obvious reasons for your success. Family is an important part of who we are and how we write. Sounds like your foundation is pretty solid.

Kay Dee--Yes, a flamingo just screams Florida, doesn't it? Delilah made a good choice. If you notice on the cover the birds' necks and heads make a heart shape. The main character's last name is Hart, another clever idea by Delilah. Now about those grandkids....LOL

Thanks, Morgan. The novel does contain some fun giggles among all the mystery, suspense, and horror. It was a lot of fun to write.
